Court of Valor and SafeKeepers Shrine Ceremony – Ceremony will be CLOSED to the Public.
September 12, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The recent surge in COVID-19 and its new Delta Variant infections have forced us to, once again, review our plans for the Court of Valor ceremony. Current news reports and public health data would indicate that we must, for the safety of our honorees, their families, guests, and participants, amend our plans for this year’s ceremony. From our beginning, at the dedication of the Court of Valor in 2009, our goal has been to honor all veterans, especially those who, through valor or sacrifice, have received military medals recognizing them. This has always kept us mindful of any health or safety concerns that our large, public gathering might create.
For 2021, we have made the following changes:
As some of our honorees have been waiting almost two years for this event, the names of this year’s 18 Court of Valor honorees will be carved in the monument.
A large public ceremony will not be conducted, as our usual attendance of 500-600 people would create a possible safety issue, especially for our honorees.
An abbreviated ceremony will be held on Sunday September 12th, 2021 at 1:00pm, as planned, and live streamed on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/phcheritage). Video of the event will be made available after the program via our website and Facebook page.
Honorees (or applicants) are permitted to attend the ceremony, along with their families and provisions will be made to allow for social distancing.
All 2021 COV honorees will be invited to attend our 2022 COV ceremony, when we hope to return to our large public event. Both 2021 and 2022 honorees will be recognized at the 2022 event.
We appreciate your understanding of these changes. Our primary concern is the safety of our honorees and their families and our staff and program participants. We look forward to honoring our veterans and first responders on Sept. 12 and look forward to seeing everyone in 2022.
