Honoring Our K-9 Officers
Prospect Hill Cemetery is proud to be the home of the City of York’s official K-9 Memorial. Once displayed in the York City Police Museum in downtown York, PA, the monument was relocated to Prospect Hill so it could be placed in a setting of lasting honor and remembrance.
The memorial now stands within our SafeKeepers Shrine area, a space dedicated to those who serve and protect. When the monument was brought to Prospect Hill, the handlers of these remarkable K-9s expressed their belief that these dogs are not only companions, but true officers—trained and dedicated just as their human partners.
To continue honoring their service, Prospect Hill has since added a second monument, designed to match the original City K-9 Memorial. This addition ensures that we may memorialize more K-9 officers who have faithfully served our community and stood side by side with their handlers in the line of duty.
As needed, we are prepared to continue placing monuments to memorialize these officers, supporting them and the handlers that proudly serve together.
The K-9 Memorial at Prospect Hill Cemetery serves as a reminder of the courage, loyalty, and sacrifice of these extraordinary animals—and the deep bond they share with those who train and serve alongside them.
You can help support the York County K-9 Memorial by making a donation. All funds received will directly support the effort to build and maintain this important public memorial dedicated to York County’s brave K-9 Officers.
